Setting Up Windows 7 Auto Login

windows-7-logo

Windows 7 by default has each user log in with their username and password. If you are the only user on a computer, or if you are setting up a home media center pc, you may want to skip the login process and boot straight to the desktop. Setting Windows 7 to auto-login will do the trick.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to launch the “Run” dialog box.
  2. Type in control userpasswords2
  3. Click “OK“. The User Accounts window will then open.
  4. Uncheck the option “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer”
  5. Click “Apply”.
  6. Now enter the current password and confirm it.
  7. Then click “OK“.

The next time you start you computer, you will no longer be prompted to enter your password upon login.
